Highlights from our Max Computing Workshop in Antigua
To support the upcoming pilot of our Max Computing series in Antigua, teachers from participating schools came together to attend a workshop delivered in collaboration with Digital Schoolhouse.
The session was led by Estelle Ashman, lead author of Max Computing, and Shahneila Saeed, founder of Digital Schoolhouse. It provided an excellent opportunity for teachers to receive in-depth training on using the books and resources effectively ahead of implementation in their own schools from September.
The workshop was very well-received, with attendees particularly enjoying the chance to get hands-on with some of the unplugged activities from the books, including:
- Taking on the roles of robots and programmers
- Using a potato to print leaf patterns from written instructions
- Using a pack of cards explore binary representation
Alongside the teachers, Mr Terry Benjamin, Officer for Computer Studies at the Ministry of Education, was in attendance. He revelled in the opportunity to get stuck in alongside his colleagues and expressed his appreciation for the workshop and excitement for the start of the Max Computing pilot.
Macmillan Education was well represented at the workshop by Mel Everett, James Orr and Eliot Abrahams.
