My BZ Math Webinars with author Dr. Tony Cotton
In partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology in Belize, Macmillan Education Caribbean are delighted to be hosting three webinars to help teachers get started with My BZ Math, a primary math course written specifically for schools in Belize.
The webinars are taking place on Monday 21st February 2022 at 8:00am, 11:00am and 2:00pm local time and will be presented by educational expert and lead author of My BZ Math, Dr. Tony Cotton.
Each webinar will cover 4 key aims:
- To develop confidence in using My BZ Math
- To understand how my BZ Math relates to the Belize National Curriculum for Mathematics
- To model how teachers can use an active approach to teaching mathematics and how they can implement a CPA approach
- To discuss how to use my BZ Math to deliver a blended approach to learning
Attendance is on an invitation only basis.
About Dr Tony Cotton
Tony is an independent educational consultant with over 40 years experience in teaching mathematics and teacher education.
He has delivered training in over 30 countries and written extensively for both learners and teachers of mathematics. He is the lead author for My BZ Math and has also written mathematics materials for the new Jamaican curriculum and for International schools around the world wishing to implement the Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract (CPA) approach to teaching mathematics.
He is the editor of Mathematics Teaching, the journal of The Association of Teachers of Mathematics in the UK, and a lead tutor on the international PGCE based at the University of Nottingham.
